One out of three respondents reported that they read news online every day, with their
interests expanding geographically.- Local news was of the most interest, US news the least.
Personalization was seen as a benefit too. Sevevnty-five percent of respondents said that they
wanted news on demand and nearly two out of three wanted personolized news. The subjects
surveyed liked the idea that they, not some media outlet, controlled the news they saw. They
feel that they are better equipped to select what they want to see instead of a proffesional
editor. Again control seems to be the issue. Again guerillas think of wyas to market by putting
the prospect in control.
The Pew Research Center study revealed that regular net users were more connected with
their freinds and family than those who didnt use the internet on a regular basis.
Almost two-thirds of the 3500 respondents said that e-mail brought them closer to family
and friends-significant when combined with the fact that ninety-one percent of them used e-mail
on a regular basis. Thats 91%!!!! It took VCR's 25 yrs to achieve such market penetration.
What did people in this study seem to be doing online when they werent doing e-mail? Half
were going online regularly to purchase products and services, and nearly 75% were going
online to search for information about their hobbies or purchases they were planning to make.
64% of respondents visited travel sites, and 62% visited weather related sites. Over half
did educational research and 54% were looking for data about health medicine.
A surprising 47% regularly visited government sites, and 38% researched jobs.
Studies show that only 26% of all websites uses meta tags... this gives you and I a
serious edge.
HTTP-EQUIVE
META HTTP_EQUIV tags are the equivalent of HTTP headers. To understand what headers
are you need to know a little about what actually goes on when you use your web browser
to request a document from a webn server. When you click on a link for a pagethe web server
recieves your browsers request via HTTP. Once the web server has made sure that the
page you have requested is there, it generates an HTTP response.
The initial data in that response is called the "HTTP header block". The header tells the
Web browser which information might be usefull for displaying this particular document.
Anyway, just like normal headers, META HTTP-EQUIV tags usually control or direct
the actions of the web browsers, and are used to further refine the information which is
provided by the actual headers. HTTP-EQUIV tags are designed to affect the web browser
in the same manner as normal headers.
I dont use HTTP-EQUIV tags but you may want to do more research on them...Lets keep
it simple but effective.
I hope the information provided has helped you and I wish you luck in your drive for
success!!
